the friday files – guest edition

As I mentioned yesterday, I have a guest helping me out with The Friday Files today. Melis has guest posted here once before and when she offered to write another post I couldn’t say no. Just wait until you see the beautiful images she has chosen for you! Did you know that her blog Melissa Loves was chosen one of the top blogs to read by Holly Becker in her new book Decorate? Yes, we have a celebrity amongst us, today!

Hello lovelies!
So happy to be over here, in Emma’s beautiful neck o’ the woods. Do you think about interiors as much as I do? Every day I see inspiring and beautiful spaces that start me thinking about how I can make my space even better – better for ME, that is! I know my style isn’t for everyone, but, it’s perfect for me. I feel like a lot of the time I am attracted to things that aren’t necessarily anything I could pull off or would feel comfortable pulling off but, I can appreciate them from a distance. Then, there is my comfort zone….do you have one of those?  The spaces, details and personality that make my heart sing. The spaces that follow make me so happy. I hope they make you happy too.

Warm and welcoming (which is always what I aspire to) but what I love about this image, besides the natural elements, is the architecture. Always a sucker for rounded arches and round shapes.

I have a piece similar to this one and someday (when it is no longer my desk) I want to make it a
display piece. I love the casual arrangements, the natural tones in the chair, frame and shade. I also love the small pink touches and the relaxed and soft textures in the pillow.

There is a lot going on in this interior but I love it so much. It is hard to edit a space ( layered or minimal) and I think this room is really well edited. A beautiful mixture of colors, patterns and textiles. The whimsy in the garland hanging from the curtains…gorgeous.

This space is a little more restrained but  just as lovely to me. I adore all of the natural
textures (the table, the lamp, rug and pillows) and the small additions of industrial.
Just enough comfort to make me happy. The mixing of the two styles is so handsome to me.

And even though this dining room seems so opposite to the other; they give me the same feeling.
Comfort with a mix of opulence and down to earthiness!  But this is the girlfriend of the handsome partner above.

More is more is more! This space is layered with personality, heart and soul. There are so many beautiful details and warmth here that win me over every time. Way above perfection or symmetry.

Ahhh…..don’t you feel your shoulders dropping just looking at this space? So subtle and filled with comfort and beautiful textures. I know, for me, comfort, restfulness and personality always win. Even though I look at my own space sometimes and think…..should it be different? Should I try to do something else? But, the answer that I always come back to is… No, my home IS me. It is a direct reflection of who I am and what is important to me. It may not be for everyone. It may not be decorated perfection. But, it makes me happy and is a creative outlet for me. So, what else is there?

Thank you for having me Emma and lovely TMHB readers. I hope you enjoyed my ramblings and I hope you have a beautiful weekend. Until next time…. be well.

xo

    Hello Emma and Melis.
Lovely post and so full of wonderful images. No 1, 2, and 6 went straight to my heart. I adore the warmth of these, and there is a ‘happy energy’ about them all.

Have a lovely weekend you two. xx

What a gorgeous post! I love all these spaces, even though they are so different. My absolute favorite is without a doubt #1 – dream house, anyone? The only way it could be even more perfect would be if the space pictured in #6 was the patio/backyard outside those lovely windows!

Great collection of photos! I especially love the reflective quality in some many of them – great mirrors, beautiful mirrored cabinet doors, architecturally stunning windows… really fab!
