Almost a year ago, the team from House & Home Magazine came over to our house to do a photoshoot for their Makeovers issue. I know many of you outside of Canada had a hard time getting your hands on the magazine and I promised to publish some photos once they became available to me. I’m happy to say that the House & Home website has finally put up the photographs some of which I will show you below. For the full story including the before photos of these spaces head over to their site.

Hey Emma, Where did you get that wooden stool in your bathroom? Cheers, Sara
It looks wonderful! I am going to pull out my old House and Home to see the pictures in print!
@Sara – The stool is originally from Ikea. Unfortunately, I don’t think they make them anymore. We actually found this one and another one at a garage sale.
Thanks for sharing your house with us again. It is fabulous. Love your kitchen. What is the surface of the floor? Brazilian flagstone? Wow.
Marybeth
@mb – Yes it is Brazilian slate.
The photos look lovely seeing them again. I am building a bookcase wall in my office (almost done!) and am currently going through all my magazines to try to purge some (husband really doesn’t understand my need to hoard design magazines.)
Will have to take another peek once I find the makeovers issue.
what a gorgeous home you have!

these pictures are beautiful! i especially like your use of blue on the walls and the nursery. lovely home
I just love your house!
Moved from Toronto (10 years there) back to Vancouver and oh how i miss Victorian homes! We were five days away from starting the reno of a semi on Madison when we heard of the transfer. Had planned the reno for a year – sniff…
Your photos are lovely – inspiring for my little 1930′s cottage here in Vancouver…
The home looks great. It looks so fresh. I’m in the process of rejuvenating my home (it’s about time)
Hello! I have been searching for kilim inspired pillow shams and came across a photo of your bedroom layered with multiple designs. We’re these amazing finds or are they from a company? Your home is breathtaking. Thanks!
Wonderful Emma! You did a great job on that video interview as well!
@Rejena – The pillows are from a mix of places. The kilim rug looking ones at the back of the bed I made out of an old rug. The front pillows shams are all from West Elm.
Here’s a link to a post I did on the kilim pillows:

@ Emma. I meant Brazilian Slate. We had it in our family room a couple of houses ago. I loved it.

I will never get tired of seeing every angle of your house! It is truly lovely!
It’s a beautiful home and very cozy! Lovely pictures!
I love your home and blog. Would like to know the paint info for the wall in the kitchen. It looks like a beautiful blue, but the H&H site says it is black. Many thanks.
@Antiope – The paint in the kitchen in Benjamin Moore chalkboard paint in black. There is definitely an element of blue to it. It definitely has a blue-black slate feel.
Thank you so much for the info. Amazing how blue it looks; it must be the white of the cabinets and the yellow of the forsythia that brings out the blue. Must try!
