five faves on a friday

After the excess of December, January is naturally the month to simplify things. There is part of me that would love to wear a uniform each day and live in a minimalist house. There is something so chic about being utilitarian.

five faves

1) Felt Slipper in grey, Glerups DK (also available at Imelda’s in Toronto – I’m in LOVE with these slippers)

2) Integer Wall Clock, EQ3

3) Cross Apron in slate grey, Fog Linen (Part of my new daily uniform. Makes so much sense with a baby.)

4) Saint James Unisex Meridien II Nautical Tee, J.Crew

5) Dutch Brush, Brook Farm General Store

I went without sugar once for over a month because I thought that I had a food allergy. So every month I would cut something out to try and isolate what it was. Sugar was the hardest for me. I finally caved after 4-5 weeks. There is a hotel across the street from my building with a candy machine. At about 3 am I woke up craving sugar. I had no cash on me and my brother stole our coin jar ( don’t ask) and in a maniacal rage I scoured my loft looking for .75 I finally found it and ran across the street bought a Snickers and pretty much inhaled it. Lucky no one saw me since it was 3am and I looked like a lunatic. Heres hoping you’re no sugar month is a lot saner!

I gave those slippers as a gift this christmas. I very reluctantly wrapped them up as I wanted very much to keep them.

That is so true, there is really something chic about beeing utilitarian. I love the simple lines and restricted palette of colors, soft materials, warm greys… Nice and cosy for january and new beginnings.

Lovely! Helps one feel more focused, less distracted. Love the simple lines. May I suggest another beautiful apron hand made locally by a favourite: Bookhou.

Really nice. Love the simplicity and calmness. it helps one feel more focused, less distracted, what we need to tackle new year’s projects. And utility clearly does not mean lack of comfort, love the slippers, I too will need to go to Imelda :)

    Hi Emma,
Thanks so much for the Imelda shout out! I just got another shipment of cozy Glerups delivered so we’re fully stocked. They are my absolute favourite slippers. Pics of colours/styles are here: http://www.facebook.com/ImeldaonRoncey
