Do you change your bed linens with the seasons? I didn't use to. For a long time, I was a fan of duvet covers and would use them throughout the year. Then a couple of years ago when I was having a hard time sleeping and a friend suggested I try using a heavier blanket on the bed to help calm me down. Amazingly it worked, like a pair of strong hands the weighty blanket made me relax and succumb to rest. I haven't looked back since.
When I was redecorating our bedroom this Spring , I didn't really give much thought to how our bed would look in winter (I was too busy worrying about other things!) Luckily, our Hudson's Bay Blanket is a fairly versatile piece. Its neutral cream colour punctuated with bands of indigo, yellow, red and green really work with a lot of palettes. In fact, it is such an iconic piece that can it can almost stand alone.
For Christmas this year, I received a pillow made from a vintage wool red and black blanket from The Arthur that works perfectly with my Hudson's Bay Blanket. The kilim pillows, that are on our bed during the summer, are fortunately covered on the back with black twill fabric and work nicely flipped over with this winter scheme.
I purchased two new ruffled cream pillow shams from West Elm over the holiday season which add a touch of femininity to the bed.
When it gets really cold we pull the gold Frette coverlet over us as well. All in all, we've been able to reuse all of our winter bed linens from our former bedroom which is a relief because I'd hate to see these things languish in a closet somewhere. How often do you switch up the linens on your bed?
