the friday files

Happy Friday everyone! I'm so happy that the end of this week is here. Today, I am kicking our party planning into high gear. I need to pick up groceries, make all my decorations, bake cupcakes, prepare some of the food, clean the house, and buy a skinny black tie for my outfit! Thanks for all your suggestions. Of course, I'll take lots of photographs and post them shortly. Today's Friday Files house was posted a few years ago in Vogue Living Australia. It was one of those ones I ripped out immediately and put in my inspiration file. I love the way they have modernized this old Victorian house without compromising any of the original features like the encaustic tile floors, carved fireplaces, and elaborate mouldings. The kitchen with its rift cut white oak cabinets and statuario marble is possibly my all time favorite kitchen. Those two materials just go so well together. I also love the minimal palette and calm of the master bedroom which I think owes a lot to those soft, gauzy grey curtains. Plus the artwork is fabulous! The interior design was completed by Hecker, Phelan, & Guthrie.
