twist and shout

Well, it was a race to the end to get everything up and ready for our Beatles theme party but we did it. Like any good event, there were some things that didn't go according to plan (decorations ordered on line not arriving in time, some desserts I didn't get around to making) but on the whole it was a success. The Dizzy Miss Lizzy Lemonade was a hit with the drinking crowd, the Rocky Raccoon cupcakes were gobbled up by the under eight crowd (and a few adults), and the fourteen layer Strawberry Fields Forever cake was demolished in minutes. We had a couple of I am the Walrus costumes (Henry was one), an Eggman (little 10 month old, Esme) and a Linda McCartney complete with Polaroid camera. Myles and I donned extremely itchy mop top wigs that were pretty comical and quite a good disguise. My only regret is running out of time to speak with each of my guests at length - a hostess's lament! Of course the moment this party ended we started thinking about next year's the running so far, an Abstract Expressionist party or an Ugly Sweater party. If you have any ideas let me know! And don't forget that today is your last chance to enter the Scout & Catalogue giveaway for a limited edition Navajo Print Bag. Just leave a comment on last Thursday's post to win!
