spring baby shower

A couple of weeks ago, I helped host a baby shower for a good friend of mine. With tiny buds on the trees and spring in the air we decided to celebrate this new beginning with a fresh, green springtime shower. I knew we were on the right track when I got my hands on the nursery inspiration board my friend had created. It was all green! Isn't that wallpaper wonderful...

One of the people who helped with the baby shower was Rachel Riordan. I profiled her house last month as part of my Hello! Neighbour series. She created two gorgeous invitations for the event.

Rachel also made these lovely white branches covered with handmade paper flowers.

We decorated the table with the white vases I had painted earlier in the week and filled them with chartreuse green flowers.

The food continued the fresh and green theme...

And then there was dessert. We had a flourless chocolate cake, mini pavlovas, chocolate dipped cupcakes made especially for us by Diana Shin of Papillon Cakes, and individual "potted" chocolate puddings made to look like real seedlings topped with edible white pansies. This little person might have been fooled at first but he quickly caught on!
