pillow talk

Vintage grain sack pillows seems to be popping up everywhere lately. There is one gracing the opening spread of the current issue of Canadian House and Home...

And on Friday, House Beautiful tweeted about where to buy grain sack pillows.

Well, I happened to spend the weekend sitting on some of the most beautiful vintage grain sack pillows I have ever seen.  Honestly, they are stunning and utterly unique. Two of them have alternating black and red stripes that are capped with a border of beautiful embroidery. They look like they could be from the Ukraine or maybe, Romania.

She bought them last summer at the Christie Antique Show. I was tempted to buy some as well but they were her find and I didn't think it was right to be a copycat. (Good friends don't steal other friends vintage finds!) A couple of weeks ago she finally got around to making the inserts. They look amazing and work so well at her cottage. We brought them everywhere with us; down on the rocks for sunbathing, on the edge of the deck for reading, even lining the Muskoka chairs.

Kind of makes me wish I had broken my golden rule and picked some up as well - especially since they only cost her $35 each. What a steal!
