So I was searching through wallpapers at work today when I came across this by Cole & Son.
I’ve never seen anything like it. I don’t even know if I would categorize it as wallpaper. It’s more like instant art or at the very least instant drama!
It is called Dionysus & Ariadne and it was designed by John Drummond in the 1950s.
The interesting thing about this wallpaper is that it is made up of six different panels that form a mural just over 10 feet wide. In other words, what you’re getting is a fully depicted neoclassical scene right on your wall. It's a bit over the top but what a statement it would make!
I can imagine using this in a dining room or maybe even a bedroom with a very simple palette and strong clean lined furniture - something minimal to counteract all that excessiveness.
What do you think? Would you put it up in your house somewhere?
