CIL paint DIY

So yesterday I spent the day inside a shipping container which honestly is not as bad as it sounds especially when the shipping container looks like this on the inside.

These are photos from CIL paint’s transformed shipping container designed by Yanic Simard that will tour parking lots of The Home Depot stores over the coming weeks. It’s filled with some very innovative paint DIYs along with the new CIL’s paint centre which will be rolling out across Canada over the next couple of months.  I was on hand to give paint consultations to anyone who stopped by and to show off my own DIY.

I took these wood knobs available at The Home Depot and painted them in CIL’s new Romantic paint palette available exclusively at The Home Depot. The process is very easy.

1. Protect the base of the knob with painter's tape.

2. Cover a portion of the knob in tape and paint exposed area.

3. Allow paint to dry completely, remove the tape and then cover the painted portion in tape.

4. Paint a second time.

5. Remove tape.

The result is colourful, playful hardware with graphic geometric patterns. These would work well in a kid’s bedroom on a dresser, in a front hallway on a console table or even in a kitchen on a hutch.

I’ll be back at The Home Depot in the CIL Dream it Here, Do it Here shipping container exhibition this weekend from 9am to 5 pm at Richmond Hill (50 Red Maple Road) on June 4th and Scarborough (60 Grand Marshall Drive) on June 5th. So gather up all your furniture swatches, take photos of your room and bring me any questions you have regarding colour selection.
