cast your vote update

Do you remember this Cast Your Vote reader submission from Craig?

"It’s time again to help out one of my readers with their design dilemma. This time we’re choosing paint colours for a hallway."

Many of you sent in your suggestions everything from keeping it white or cream to wallpapering an accent wall. There were also a lot of votes for a moody blue or smokey green-blue colour. Well, Craig took your advice and painted his walls a soft blue colour called Hydrangea Blossom from Behr. He also painted his stairs in Behr colours. His treads, handrail and newel post are painted in Beluga and the spindle sand risers are painted in Pot of Cream. Here are some before and afters:

Craig tells me that the Hydrangea blue colour changes throughout the day depending on the light and shadows shifting from a vibrant lavender hue to an icy blue, to a silvery grey tone at night time.

It looks like Craig has also switched out his old front door for a new one that allows in more light, changed the entrance way pendant light and added some crown moulding. He's also added that fantastic, oversized mirror and some new accessories. What do you think? I'm always amazed at how much paint can change a room.

Thanks again, Craig for taking part in my Cast Your Vote series. I'll have some more updates for you next week. I think I might just have chosen a new dining room light for The Marion House! And don't forget, if you have a design question you need help with send me an email here and I'll provide you with some suggestions.
