The Osage Oranges have a lemon scent. When big I put them in nice orange plant pot in the kitchen. It is said that the Osage tribe made bows and arrows out of its wood.
Careful, the fruit is not edible.

@S@sha - I think these are probably imported. They're about the size of a clementine orange. Interesting to know they have been around for so long! They do look kind of dinosaur like!

Hmm, Osage Orange. We have those in NM, but I didn't guess that's what they were when you IG'd that pic, maybe because the scale made them look really small? Or maybe they are small because they are growing so far north? I'm used to seeing them as big as grapefruits. Regardless, they're cool. And one of those plant species that were around during the time of dinosaurs (or at least mastadons). I've been enjoying your Christmas inspiration posts on Pintrest today. Especially the evergreen in the vase.

It was so funny to see your "Osage oranges" in this post--I live in Texas and they are EVERYWHERE around here! I have only ever known them as horseapples. In fact, many things in my area are named Bois D'Arc after the tree--streets, festivals, etc. I never even thought of them as pretty or fragrant, but I will make a point of smelling one the next time I happen upon one!
